Film & Me
It's been a pretty awesome year thus far; so many self discoveries, both in my small whispering soul and in my big loud artistic one. This is my 30th year, and I'm done playing it safe, I want to rush into this big world eyes wide open, ready to drink in everything it has to offer. I want to push myself harder, I want to stretch even further in what I create. A week ago I attended an amazing film photography workshop with the very talented Samantha Kelly. It was a game changer. I've always loved the way I shoot when using film; the way I slow down, take a breath, not checking my camera every two seconds. Honestly, shooting film is a lot like yoga to me - soothing and relaxing for my mind. I learned so much and took some of my most favorite photographs to date while there, and I'm ready to make this a regular thing.
I'm interested in moving away from what's safe, what's easy and good enough and I want to create more of what moves us as human beings, more tangible views of the kind of a mark we want to leave on the world. Don't be surprised if you see me shooting one or two rolls at your next session because this is my happy place, and I'm sure it will be yours too. #filmforeverandeveramen
