Posts in family sessions

I feel like I kinda get to do the coolest thing in the world, you know the whole peek-into-your-perfect-happy-jumping-bean-lives-and-click-click-click thing, because even imperfect is excellently perfect in my book - - - that's why these In-Home Sessions fill up another bit of my soul.

Plus, these two are the most relaxed, fabulous parents/people on the planet, I'm hoping some of their awesome-ness rubbed off on me while I was there.

the hunt

We went hunting for our Christmas tree last weekend, after weeks and WEEKS of waiting.  "It's better," I kept telling myself "the tree won't be suuuuper dry come Christmas."  But I was seriously dying to get that tree and have it feel like Christmas in our home, and so was Lily.  Finally the day had come and we drove out to our favorite place to pick one out, you know those places where you get to cut down your own and there's nothing but trees everywhere and it's like you're in Christmas heaven?  Yeah, it was that kind of place.  So I had my camera and my awesome family and I was ready to catch myself some whimsy out among all of those Blue Spruces.   We drove up and the only thing I saw was a giant sign that said "SOLD OUT".  I'm not sure why it never dawned on me that this could happen.  I mean we did wait until a few weeks before Christmas, but it was SO devastating.  Especially for this one:

I'm pretty sure I looked similar.  But don't worry, there is a happy ending to this story -we totally found a Christmas tree that is gorgeous and smells amazing and the magic of Christmas has returned to us; but I did tell my husband, "We are NEVER waiting this long ever again!"  Case closed.

red hair envy

Okay, so who else is totally weeping with love over this website... just me? It's cool, I've kind of got a huge crush on it, and guess what I just discovered??  When you "like" the post and click on the little heart at the bottom, it totally explodes into loads of little hearts and makes you feel like a complete boss.  You should try it.

Back to business: photos.  I love this little family, and that little red head of theirs, the cutest most timid and therefore adorable kid in the world.  I'm pretty sure I was kind of squealing over the palpable cuteness during the entire shoot.  I keep telling Wesley's little tiny old man hair in the back "keep growing, keep growing", it's kinda red... shhhh.

This shoot was a match made in heaven - raspberry picking and awesome clients. Honestly, I really feel like this is how family shoots should always be approached.

You have a good time as a family, and I document it.

For me, those are the pictures I love the very most of my own family, when we're just doing our thing - whether it's making cookies together, picking out a christmas tree, flying kites, or camping and making smores.  Kids are happier, parents are happier, and over all the finished product is just so much more genuine.

Okay, enough of my soap boxing...  Get yourselves ready for a huge load of photos - cause when you document, it's really hard to leave anything out.
